Lori,
Thanks for reading! The goal of this blog was to share "my story". Here are 5 things anyone can do to get started...
1. Become hyper aware: pay close attention to your child's behavior, mood, sleep habits and school performance. Is something they are eating setting them off balance? If you sense something is off, try an elimination diet and see how your child responds. Remember, the brain is THE most food sensitive organ in the body, and food changes everything.
2. Clean it up: stay away from as many food as you can in a wrapper or bag, and ditch the artificial food dyes.
3. Love the Number 9: Go organic when you can. Look for the number 9 on all produce stickers: fruits and veggies that are organic have a nine at the beginning of the sticker. To stay in budget and fight the illnesses of that season, buy what's in season, and don't forget the veggie wash!
4. CLEAN doesn't have a smell: lose the scented dryer sheets, candles, detergents and fabric softeners. All of these directly affect your child's breathing and skin and impact their health daily.
5. Avoid the Kids' Menu Trap: when we eat out, we lose control over the quality of food our kids are eating. Eat at home when possible; if not, avoid the kids' menu which usually consists of salty, sweet, white and fried foods with high calorie count but no nutritional value. This leaves our kids overfed and undernourished.

Warmly,
