“I suspect there are many people like me out there”
I am 57 years old and for the first 45 years of my life I suffered from severe allergies, to the point that for several months of the year I was on two different kinds of inhalers in order to breathe. About a dozen years ago, I went on the Atkins diet, and one of the things I quickly noticed is that all my allergies disappeared, almost overnight. Through trial and error, what I discovered is that it was the wheat in my diet that was causing all the problems. I never had any of the intestinal problems or anything else commonly associated with wheat intolerance, just the breathing problems.
Since the discovery, I have rarely had as much as a sniffle during heavy pollen seasons, and haven’t used any inhalers since. My advice to anyone suffering from asthma, or any of these kinds of allergies, is to eliminate wheat from the diet for a few weeks and see what happens. What could it hurt? I suspect there are many people like me out there.
