“Thank you for changing my life and more importantly my son’s”
I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for changing my life and more importantly my son’s. I am sure you have heard a million stories, but your work meant enough to me, I wanted to share mine.
I read “The Unhealthy Truth” about 14 months ago. I was at a loss for how to help my son. He has had a chronic cough his entire life. At 1, they told us he has asthma and put him on maintenance inhalers. Since that time, his health had gone up and down. They tested him for cystic fibrosis at Texas Children’s at age 2 because he was not growing. Just before he turn 4 last year he was on a maintenance steroid inhaler, a rescue inhaler, singular packets, and nasonex daily. He was on antibiotics about every 4-6 weeks. He was covered in dry, cracked, and irritated skin. All the pediatric pulminologist would tell me is that I was doing the right thing; at least he was not in the hospital. That was not good enough for us.
My husband and I made a commitment to make it better. I read your book, and I changed the entire family’s nutrition.
I removed dairy, HFCS, artificial coloring and flavoring, and went about 70-80% organic. I already considered myself a healthy person, so it was not a huge leap for us, but it did take time and getting used to maneuvering around the grocery store.
Within one month, my son was off all medication. He has remained off all medication for a year. He had two flare ups over the year, and each time he coughed for less than one week. We know for a fact he is allergic to red food dye, and intolerant of dairy products. The rest we are still trying to pin-point.
He will turn 5 in April, and he looks and sounds (and behaves!!!) like a different kid.
We are still struggling with his skin, so we have more work to do there. (If you know of any good allergists in Houston – let me know!).
So, long story short, thank you. Thank you for your time and dedication to making life better for all of us. I have passed on your book to many friends. I appreciate what you are doing and will support you in any way that I can.
