My son has been allergic to cow milk and milk related products, as well as eggs and their products since 6 months old when he was exposed to baby food with dried cow milk and swelled up like a balloon. I continued to give him breastmilk thankfully and after 12 months I introduced organic rice milk and organic soy milk. There are studies that say that children with cow milk allergies can also have a reaction to soy milk, but I did not know that when I transitioned him and thankfully he did not have a reaction. Maybe you can try to introduce it slowly or take him to an allergist who can test him for soy allergies, as well as others. Make sure you offer him other high iron, protein, etc products like legumes/beans and meat sources, as well as eggs and nuts and whole grain breads if you know he is not allergic to them. 14 kg does not seem to be too underweight. I am sure he can increase his weight with such products as I described above. Good luck and God bless!

my son just turned 1 and he gets a red rash around his mouth when he drinks his milk. This is the only place he gets the rash and has no other symptoms suggesting he might have a milk allergy. I definately know he gets it from the milk but does this mean it's an allergy? He doesnt have any reaction from eating cheese, yogurt or icecream. How can I tell if it's a bad thing? Also, if raw milk is supposed to be so good for you why is it illegal to buy in some states? When you say raw exactly what do you mean?

My 1yr old developed food sensitivities in the first few months of his life--milk, rice, tree nut, so I have had to resort to Soy milk which I'm not sure about; but I don't know what else to do. I tried goats milk, it was pasturized but not homoginized; but he couldnt take it either. Do you think raw milk would work (either goat's or cow's)? Any advice would be appreciated!!!

While we are on the topic of raw milk. My 60 year old aunt was diagnosed with advanced osteoperosis and was treated with the typical drugs therapies and encouraged to consume all the dairy she could to no avail. Her bone loss kept progressing. After she researched raw milk, she discontinued all of her medication and consumed raw dairy products for a year. Her next bone scan revealed that she had regained 25% of her bone mass. According to her doctors, this is impossible to do after the age of 35 and she was 65 at the time.

Do the research. Raw milk is incredible and even in the states where it is illegal to sell it, there is should still be a way to get it. I was able to get it in Florida where the sale of raw milk is illegal. It is so worth the effort. Why wait to get osteoperosis? Prevent it.

The more I read, the more I am convinced that in the not too distant future, the whole issue of what is in our food is going to come to a showdown between us consumers and those that make our food (the food manufacturers) and also those who oversee our food production (the governments of the world).

Food manufacture and processing is driven so much by profit and productivity. I think we have lost site of the reason we eat in the first place - to sustain us.

I remember I used to scoff a few years ago when I heard someone say that one day, wars will be fought over water. Well, here in Australia, it may not quite have come to blows yet, but our water supply is drying up at an alarming rate. I can only wonder how long it will be until the same starts to happen with our food supply. The price of food here has gone crazy in the last couple of years whilst the quality seems to have decreased significantly.

As I write this I look out my living room window and think how important will my just started home vegie patch will become in the future. Thanks for this great resource and info.

Regards.

I am a firm believer in raw milk. My family has been drinking raw milk for about 3 years now. People I know who have had known allergic reactions to milk bought from a store (pastuerized, homogenized) who switched to raw milk, no longer had reactions. What some people don't know is that the pastuerization process kills off the lactase enzyme found in raw milk which causing lactose intolerance. You would be horrified if you really knew all that's involved in processing the milk you buy from the store. It is terrifying to know what our government allows for our children. I also believe that soy is harmful, especially to boys. I also believe that vaccinations are dangerous.

I would reccomend to any mother or soon to be moms to visit www.westonaprice.org and check out the healthy baby issue.

Great information! I also want to mention that it's odd the FDA does not require the drug companies to label any of the top eight allergens in their vaccines. The FDA is a big joke. The new dTap vaccines are grown in Casamino Acid (casein medium) which is the protein found in milk. The vaccine could have a "peanut" medium and is not required to be labeled accordingly. My husband and son have an autoimmune reaction to casein and this shot has caused unknown organ damage. If you have an issue with the milk protein, please do some research.
